Dear Resident,
With the summer now upon us, I wanted to write to my constituents to let you know about a change to my role in Parliament.
I am thrilled to have been appointed as a government minister at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Department for International Development (DfID). My responsibilities will include tackling the illegal wildlife trade, promoting biodiversity overseas, and strengthening animal welfare standards at home - these are all issues I have campaigned on for many years, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to promote them in government.
Whilst my new role restricts my ability to speak in Parliament on issues that do not relate to my brief, I am no less committed to fighting for my constituents and helping with any enquiries or problems that you have. My first duty is and always will be to serving Richmond Park and North Kingston.
That means that I will continue to fight for better train services for local residents; I will carry on campaigning for Hammersmith Bridge to be reopened as quickly as possible; I will not stop pressuring the Government to provide more funding for our police; and I remain implacably opposed to Heathrow expansion and will never support a third runway. Being a minister will not prevent me from dedicating my efforts towards these and the many other issues that matter to us all.
My office and I remain ready to answer any queries that you have and to help with any problems. You can find my contact details at the bottom of this email.
With best wishes to you and your family for a restful summer,
Zac Goldsmith
Member of Parliament for Richmond Park and North Kingston
