Cllr Ron Mushiso, Conservative GLA Candidate for Hounslow, Richmond & Kingston
Ron is a local teacher and experienced Councillor in the London Borough of Hounslow. He is the Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group and a permanent Member of the Corporate Parenting Panel which prioritises the welfare of children in care.
Ron came to the U.K from a small rural village in Uganda when he was 12 years old, following the death of his Mother and Grandfather. London provided Ron with a safe environment and a new start to life.
He found his passion for teaching from his teachers at the Heathlands Comprehensive in West London who nurtured him and equipped him with the fundamentals for reading, writing and speaking after a tumultuous start in his formative years.
It was these teachers who raised the alarm about Ron’s welfare. By his 15th birthday Ron had been placed with 6 different foster families. He eventually settled permanently in Richmond with Celine and Don Hassell, who offered a loving and stable home.
As a local Councillor, Ron champions community initiatives and has successfully fundraised for better air quality projects at local primary schools and leveled the playing field with school supply drives to ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds had continued access to online learning during the pandemic. He is passionate about civic pride and community responsibility and has worked closely with local organisations and businesses.
